Back to the HMS Repulse crew list

John Scott
Able Seaman
Service No: D/SSX26856

I recently attended a family reunion in Edinburgh and whilst going thru some old family photo's discovered that I had an Uncle who served on the Repulse during the Second World War.

I am sure that you can imagine the interest that stirred inside me, especially as I am ex RN myself, I find it hard to put into words the pride and sadness I felt for my Uncle John as I sat looking at a photograph of a very young and handsome sailor. A haunting smile intended for his young bride, My Aunt Peggy, also very sadly departed from this world.

My Uncle ......John Scott, Able Seaman, D SSX 26856 is listed on the CWGC as having been killed on the 16. 2. 1942. Unfortunately one must presume that he died during the evacuation of Singapore.

I would also at this time like to take the opportunity to express my sincerest thanks and appreciation for the time and great effort that you have put into the building of this website, it is a tribute to both the fallen and surviving shipmate heroes of HMS REPULSE.

From my Heart, my sincerest thanks.

Harry Norton, Ex AB. RN. Veteran of the Falklands.
