I have been told that my 2nd cousin served on HMS Repulse, his name was William Rowland, he was a Stoker 1st class. Can any one tell me how I can confirm this? He died on 16/2/1942 and is remembered on the Plymouth naval memorial. It is possible that William survived the sinking of HMS Repulse, was transferred to HMS Sultan the Singapore Naval base, then on to HMML 1062, which was sunk on 16th February 1942, the day that Singapore fell to the Japanese. I
can find no records of a "HMML 1062" anywhere, it is only
mentioned in the records from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. Please contact Andy (webmaster) with any information. B Ellis |
