I
am interested in finding out some details of my father's
earlier life, and whether he has any relatives. He was born in Belfast on the 5th of June 1921. I believe his father was
called Dennis, who moved to Belfast from Enniscorthy, probably between 1910-1919. My father, who died in 1993, told me that his parents had died
when he was about 2 years old. He was adopted by his maternal grandparents,
and I have a copy of the adoption certificate (dated 4/8/1934) from the General Register Office, Belfast. It gives the names of the adoptees as
Richard & Grace Sterne of 99, Malone Road, Belfast. My father left Northern Ireland at age 15(?) to join the Royal Navy, and
served on HMS Repulse in the North Atlantic during the early part of W.W.2.
I would be grateful for any information or suggestions. |
