R. W. J. Fluck is currently
listed on the C W G C database as R. W. J. Luck
I have been able to unearth some details about
Reginald. I also have the probate certificate given to his mother which had all her details on it.
Reginald's father was the late W. H. Fluck of 11 Hill Rd, Ely in the City of Cardiff (died 25th January 1934) He had served in the Royal Navy during the Boer War (HMS Blanche) and in WW1.
His mother was Ruby Annie Fluck of 7 Moore Rd, Ely in Cardiff (this address was on the probate certificate dated 1946)
After being landed at Singapore he served as part of the Plymouth Argylls until captured.
On the FEPOW site he is shown as being lost at sea on 12th September 1944. Two Hell ships were known to have been sunk on this day and it is possible that he was on board one of these ships. However, he is not listed with the casualties of either ship.
The Kachidoki Maru was used for carrying prisoners and troops to Japan, on 12th of September 1944 she was torpedoed and sunk by USS Pampanito. 244 were lost and 656 survived.
The Rakuyu Maru was carrying prisoners and was torpedoed by USS Sealion on 12 September 1944. 1005 were lost and 259 survived.
All the best
