Peter served as a Royal Marine on HMS Prince of Wales, he survived her  sinking, and later defended Singapore as one of the Plymouth Argyll's. He spent three and a half years on the Burma Railway.

Peter runs the British Far East Prisoner of War Grave Archives in London. He was awarded the MBE for:
"Services to the Far Eastern Prisoners of War Association and Far East War Grave Archives".
