Fred (Bronco) Belmont

Able Seaman and P 3 Gunner
Service no. D SSX 26846

Fred served on HMS Prince of Wales, he was an AB gunner on Gun P3, survived the sinking and the war, after spending time in Singapore and Australia.

He married Bet and had 4 children Allen, Pearl, Paul and David, plus several grandchildren. He was an amazing character and like most old sailors had many a tale to tell.
After the war Fred spent the rest of his working life in the mining industry.

He lived at Tonypandy in the Rhondda Valley in South Wales.

Unfortunately he had suffered a major stroke and was wheelchair bound, but still had all his faculties.

Sadly Fred passed away on 4th February 2006 aged 85 years.
