Ronald survived the sinking of HMS Li Wo and the war, he wrote the book 'Stand by to Die' with A V Sellwood about the sinking of HMS Li Wo, and the incarceration of the survivors by the Japanese. He
was awarded the Distinguished Service Order for his part in the action
