Jack
was on HMS board Electra as she picked up the 3 survivors of HMS Hood,
which was sunk by Bismarck during the Battle of the Denmark Strait, Jack
actually helped survivor Ted Briggs out of the water. There is a fuller account of his experience, on the HMS Hood website here
